New View, New Technology by Rik Hoevers
In the old days, the philosopher Aristotle advocated the thought that everything in this world has a "natural place", a place where it is at home and can be at rest. This is easily shown: just drop a stone and it will only stop moving when it hits the floor, at that point it has reached its natural place.
Of course now we see the world differently. Things fall because of gravity and there is no such thing as a "natural place" for objects.
Stones still fall like they have always done, it is our viewpoint that has changed. This change in perspective has brought with it a chance to develop a different science and a different technology. Our airplanes and satellites would not have been possible without this mindshift.
Our present day technology is in need of another radical change, going in the course it is headed we will destroy our habitat. In this workshop we will be exploring ways to turn our consciousness 180 degrees from the way we usually see the world. Also we'll look into some scientific and technological consequences of these shifts. Meet the technology of tomorrow and be inspired to invent some of your own!
