Integral Education & Ecology event - Next Step Integral, CA, USA

Two seminars woven into One!

Deepening our Practice Through Integral Awareness.

Integral Education and Integral Ecology are two emerging fields, propelled by people who seek to push the envelope of what these two ways of being present and active in the world have to offer. This two-strand seminar will provide an inspiring environment to meet with colleagues and to network with a small but growing community that clearly understands that addressing a more complete spectrum of personal, cultural, and systemic realities at play in the universe is one of the most powerful ways to begin creating the changes we hope to see in the world.

Including embodiment practice moments derived from Aikido and Tango principles by Anouk Brack.

Join in: August 3–8, 2010, Mount Madonna, Watsonville CA, USA

2010: Integral Waves of Consciousness connect...

Review of the outcomes of International Symposium "Research across Boundaries"

One example of the spread of the Integral Thought and Action was the wonderful "Research across Boundaries" symposium in June at Luxembourg University. It was organized by the recently formed Opens external link in new windowInstitute for Integral Studies. Part of the line-up were Sean Esbjörn-Hargens, Wendelin Küpers, Jonathan Reams, Mark Edwards, and many more.

The contributors are leading representatives of an array of contemporary integrative frameworks and research practices who were gathering for the first time from across the five continents and various research fields (philosophy, physics, semiotics, psychology, sociology, anthropology, business studies etc.). The goal of the symposium was to instigate dialogues among them and additional participants through plenum, small-group and open space sessions, in order to discover common concerns and stimulating differences regarding advanced boundary-crossing research approaches.

They more then succeeded in their goal! The result was an inspiring event with many new and fruitful connections made that will be a fertile ground for both a better META-integral understanding of different streams of integral research and approaches, and that will account for a better informed choice when applying an integral framework (like Wilber's) to a particular issue.

The most exciting and promising outcome for future leaders for sustainability was the blossoming collaboration between several initiatives transforming university education. Some will be forming new universities like University for Humanity and University for the Future and some operating from within the current academic system transforming the universities from the inside out. They will now cooperate in bringing their common integral values like transdisciplinarity and sustainability forward in their separate and common initiatives.

Experience Integral will be involved in the unfolding of the integral education initiatives and possibly with the facilitation of the second edition.

Review Conscious Embodiment seminar for ILR

Experience Integral is teaming up with Integral Leadership Review on announcing and reviewing interesting integral leadership events in the "Notes from the field". Opens external link in new windowRead Anouk Brack's review in the Opens external link in new windowFREE online journal "Integral Leadership review" about Wendy Palmer's Conscious Embodiment seminar in London this spring.

“It is not that I stay balanced all the time, I just recover so fast, nobody notices the imbalance.” –paraphrasing O Sensei Morihei Ueshiba, founder of the martial art Aikido

I highly recommend Wendy Palmer’s teaching of embodied leadership through conscious embodiment practices that she skillfully derived from Aikido. Aikido means something like “the way of harmony with the life-force.” ... In this particular exercise, we practice cultivating an open, welcoming field with a grounded presence while someone approaches us. Shockingly, even in a safe practice setting like the seminar, someone walking up to me to grab my wrist–symbolizing a strong intention to tell me something important–triggers all the safety patterns of closing down and tensing up....
